GEAC to decide on new tests on Brinjal on

 

The Genetic Engineering Approval Committee (GEAC), country's biotechnology regulator, will be meeting on Wednesday to decide on new safety tests on Bt brinjal.

"The entire protocol and the institutions which could conduct these tests will be decided by the committee", a senior ministry official said. Environment and Forest minister Jairam Ramesh has imposed a suspension on the commercial release of Bt brinjal till a new set of independent safety tests are conducted on the crop.
