Panjab University quiz on environment increases level of students' awareness

 

The Department CHANDIGARH: The Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration, in collaboration with the Department of Botany, Panjab University, organised the Enviro-Quiz Competition, 2010 for Hindi medium and English medium schools. The quiz, organised at the ICSSR Hall, PU, sought to generate environmental awareness among students.

Prof R.K. Kohli, chairman, Department of Botany, Panjab University conducted the quiz.
Teams of four schools qualified after the screening.

Government Senior Secondary School, Sector 27C, Chandigarh, represented by Sarita (Class IX), Shubhum Giri (Class IX), Shubhum (Class IX) won the first position, Government Senior Secondary School, Khudda Lahora, UT, Chandigarh represented by Pardeep (Class X), Shelly (Class X), Swati (Class X) won the second position, Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 26, (TM), Chandigarh represented by Shiv Dayal (Class X), Manoj (Class X), Rahul (Class X) won the third position while Government High School, Sector 40-A, Chandigarh represented by Arun Kumar (Class X), Rubia (Class X), Mamta Devi (Class X) won the fourth position.

A total of 18 schools participated in the Enviro-Quiz Competition 2010 (English Medium Schools). Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 35-D, Chandigarh represented by Gaurav (Class XII), Nishant (Class XI), Vivek (Class XI) won first position, St Kabir Public School, Sector-26, Chandigarh, represented by Navdeep (Class IX), Dhruva (Class IX) and Rishabh (Class IX) won the second position, Carmel Convent Senior Secondary School, Sector 9-B, Chandigarh represented by Bhavya Kaushal (Class IX), Harjasleen Malvai (Class IX), M. Shruti (Class IX) won the third position and Government Model Senior Secondary School, Sector 37-B, Chandigarh represented by Ashpreet (Class XII), Monika (Class XII), Ira Domun (Class XI) won the fourth position.

Winners will be awarded cash prizes and trophies by the Department of Environment, Chandigarh Administration.
