Doing their bit
to save environment, Indo Global College of Education organised a
one-day seminar on environmental hazards and water depletion in
Punjab. PL Kaler, IFS, former principal, chief conservator of forest
was the chief guest. He said: “The beauty of
India
lies in its rich environmental splendour and to conserve this we
should make efforts to protect environment by adapting to wise means.”
Sub themes for
seminar focused on issues of water crisis in
Punjab: A horrendous scene, climate change: causes and
remedies and need to integrate climate change education into
educational programme and school curriculum.
Dr Vandana Mehra, associate professor,
department of education, Panjab University, said: “The problem of
environmental degradation is a global issue and the role of teachers
is imperative. Threats to human survival comes from inter-related
problems like increasing population, ozone depletion, deforestation,
release of harmful gases in the atmosphere, increasing global warming,
air pollution and rapid depletion of natural resources.”
