Environmental Education (EE) is a process of recognizing values and clarifying
concepts in order to develop skills and added tools necessary to understand and
appreciate the inter-relationship among man, his culture and his bio-physical
surrounding. It creates an overall perspective, which acknowledges the fact that
natural environment and man-made environment are interdependent.

According to
the first Inter-governmental Conference on EE held at Tbilisi, Georgia (USSR) in
1977 organized by the United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural
Organization (UNESCO) in cooperation with the U.N. Environment Programme (UNEP)
the objectives of EE at all levels—local, national, regional, and international
and for all age groups both inside and outside the formal school system are as
follows:
