The  Environmental Management Capacity Building-Environmental Information System (EMCB-ENVIS) Node on 'State Environment Issues' at PSCST (Punjab State Council for Science & Technology), Chandigarh was established in December, 2002 under the World Bank Assisted Project (EMCBTAP-ENVIS) of the Ministry of Environment and Forests, Govt. of India to identify and highlight the state environment and related issues. The Node was upgraded to ENVIS Centre in January, 2005. Since then, the Punjab ENVIS Centre is working on the subject 'Status of Environment & Related Issues'.
